SheRecs Privacy Policy

Last Updated on: April 28, 2026

Welcome!

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, protect, and share your personal information when you use SheRecs and its related services (the “Services”). SheRecs is a private, invite-based platform that enables users to share and discover trusted recommendations for service providers within their personal networks. It’s important that you read this entire policy, but here’s a summary to get you started:

  • We care a lot about privacy. SheRecs is built to facilitate trusted recommendations within private networks. Respecting and protecting your information is fundamental to that experience.
  • We do not sell your personal information. SheRecs is currently offered at no cost. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will not sell your personal information as part of our business model.
  • We collect only what we need. We limit the information we collect to what is necessary to create your account, enable recommendations, and operate the Services. Additional information is optional and within your control.
  • We are committed to a safe and trusted community. We use reasonable measures to help maintain the integrity of the platform, including addressing misuse and enforcing our Community Guidelines.
  • We give you control. We provide tools and settings that allow you to manage your profile, recommendations, and how your information is shared within your network.

SheRecs is Built for Trusted Recommendations.

We built SheRecs to enable meaningful, trusted recommendations within private networks. Whether you are part of a close-knit group, a professional circle, or a broader community connected through shared interests, SheRecs makes it easy to exchange reliable recommendations that support everyday decisions.

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “Services” has the same meaning as set forth in our Terms of Service. The Services include the SheRecs application and any related websites, features, content, and support services we make available, whether accessed via mobile, web, or other internet-enabled devices. We may also collect information through related interactions, including customer support communications, surveys, emails, and social media engagement.

As described in our Terms of Service, users may contribute content in a variety of ways, including submitting recommendations, creating profiles, and interacting with other users within their networks. SheRecs is designed to operate primarily within invite-based or otherwise controlled environments, and we structure the platform to support visibility that is limited to your connections or designated networks. However, the visibility of your content may depend on your settings, the structure of your network, and how information is shared by other users.

We may use content shared within the Services to operate, improve, and support platform functionality, including enhancing recommendation relevance and maintaining the integrity of the user experience. Where applicable, we will provide you with tools and settings to manage how your information and content are used. You should consider the nature of the information you choose to share, the audience with whom you share it, and your selected privacy settings when using the Services.

Children’s Privacy and Age Requirements

SheRecs is intended solely for individuals who are at least 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect, use, or maintain personal information from individuals under the age of 18, nor do we permit such individuals to create accounts or use the Services.

If we become aware that an individual under 18 has created an account or otherwise provided personal information through the Services, we will take reasonable steps to promptly delete such information and terminate the associated account.

In addition, SheRecs is designed to facilitate recommendations of service providers who are adults. We do not knowingly collect or maintain personal information relating to service providers who are under the age of 18. Users should not submit or share information about minors in connection with service provider recommendations.

If you believe that a minor has provided personal information to SheRecs or has been included as a recommended service provider, please contact us at support@sherecs.com so that we can take appropriate action. By accessing or using the Services, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age.

The Information We Collect

We collect certain information when you use SheRecs to provide, operate, improve, and protect the Services. This includes: (i) information you provide directly to us; (ii) information we collect automatically; and (iii) information we receive from other sources.

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, share recommendations, and interact with other users on the Services.

Account & profile information. When you create a SheRecs account, you provide information necessary to establish and maintain your profile. This may include your first and last name, email address, city, state, and zip code, and a profile photo. You may also choose to provide additional optional information, such as profile notes, preferences, or other biographical details. We may also request additional information to verify your account or enable certain features.

Content you create. This includes any content you submit, upload, or otherwise make available through the Services. For example, you may create and share recommendations (“RecCards”), send messages, post comments, or participate in community features. RecCards may include service provider details (such as business name, contact information, and location), service-related selections, your rating or assessment of a provider, and personal notes about your experience. Your content may also include profile information and other materials you choose to share with your network.

Information from actions you take. We collect information about your use of and activities on the Services. This includes the connections you establish, invitations you send or receive, recommendations you create or engage with, and your interactions with other users and platform features.

Information used to enable optional features. Certain features may require you to provide additional information or grant us access to information to function properly. For example, features such as contact syncing or integrations with third-party services may involve the collection of additional data that you authorize us to access. We collect and use this information solely to provide the relevant functionality.

Other information you provide directly to us. You may provide additional information as you use SheRecs, including when you respond to surveys, submit feedback, contact customer support, or communicate with us through email, social media, or other channels.

Important Considerations Regarding User-Provided Content

Because SheRecs is designed to facilitate the sharing of recommendations within trusted, invite-based networks, certain content you provide through the Services may relate to third parties, including service providers and other individuals. You are responsible for ensuring that any information you submit is accurate, appropriate, and that you have the right to share such information. Depending on the nature of the provider, this information may include business-related details as well as personal information. We may use content you provide to operate, maintain, and improve the Services, including to enhance the relevance of recommendations, support platform functionality, and promote the integrity and reliability of the user experience.

Information We Collect Automatically

We also collect certain information automatically when you use SheRecs. This helps us operate, maintain, and improve the Services.

Information about your device. We collect information about the device you use to access the Services, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, and certain device settings.

Information about your use of the Services. We collect log and usage information related to how and when you interact with the Services. This may include access times, pages or features viewed, recommendations you view or interact with, and actions taken within the platform.

Other information that we collect automatically. When you interact with SheRecs through third-party platforms (such as clicking on advertisements or referral links), we may receive limited information about those interactions, such as the referring source or campaign.

We may also collect information through cookies and similar technologies. These technologies help us operate the Services, understand usage patterns, and improve your experience. You can control cookies as described in the “How to Control Your Privacy” section below.

The Services use the following types of cookies:

  • Strictly Necessary Cookies: These are required for the Services to function properly.
  • Functional Cookies: These enable enhanced features and personalization, such as remembering your preferences.
  • Performance Cookies: These help us understand how users engage with the Services so we can improve functionality and performance.

Information We Receive from Other Sources

We may receive information about you from other sources, including from other users and third parties, and combine that information with the information we collect directly. For example, if another user invites you to join SheRecs or connects with you on the platform, we may receive certain information about you in connection with that invitation or connection. Or if you interact with SheRecs through social media or other third-party platforms, we may receive information such as your username or profile details from those services.

To measure and optimize our efforts. We may use information to assess the effectiveness of product features, communications, and outreach efforts, including limited use in connection with advertising and marketing activities designed to promote the Services.

Future Features Involving Service Providers

As SheRecs evolves, we may introduce features that involve the use of service provider information included in user-submitted recommendations.

For example, we may use service provider contact information submitted through RecCards to:

  • Notify providers that they have been recommended on SheRecs.
  • Inform providers of the recommending user(s), where appropriate and consistent with user privacy settings.
  • Provide providers with options to manage their presence on SheRecs, including opting out, confirming or updating their information, or creating an enhanced profile through affiliated services.

If implemented, any such features will be subject to appropriate controls, user visibility settings, and applicable legal requirements. We will provide clear notice and, where required, obtain appropriate permissions or consents prior to activating these features.

To Comply with Legal Obligations

We retain and use your information as necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes. This may include responding to lawful requests from courts, regulators, or law enforcement authorities, as well as maintaining records for compliance, auditing, and dispute resolution purposes. We may also request information from you to verify your identity when you exercise applicable legal rights.

With Your Consent

We may collect, use, or share your information for additional purposes with your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time, although doing so may affect your ability to use certain features of the Services.

To Protect Vital Interests

We may use or disclose personal information if we believe it is necessary to protect the vital interests of any individual, such as in connection with preventing serious harm.

How We Share Your Information

We share your information in the following circumstances:

With other users, based on your actions and settings. When you create a profile, share recommendations, or otherwise engage with the Services, you are directing us to share that information with other users in accordance with your network connections and privacy settings. For example, your profile information and recommendations may be visible to your friends, and in certain cases to extended network users (such as friends of friends or users in your geographic area), depending on how the Services are designed to function and how you configure your settings. Certain content may also be made more broadly visible if you choose to make it public. We structure the Services to provide you with meaningful control over how your information is shared, and you can manage these preferences as described in the “How to Control Your Privacy” section below. We may also share information as you otherwise direct us or provide your consent.

With service providers and vendors. We share information with third-party vendors and service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, data storage, analytics, customer support, and payment processing. These parties are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us and are subject to appropriate contractual and confidentiality obligations. Where we engage third parties in connection with marketing or advertising efforts, we share only limited information necessary to measure and improve the effectiveness of those efforts, and not for the purpose of selling your personal information.

To comply with legal obligations. We may share information in response to a request for information if we believe disclosure is required by law, including meeting national security or law enforcement requirements and/or where we believe in good faith that such disclosure is required by applicable law. Where allowed and feasible, we will attempt to provide you with prior notice before disclosing your information in response to such a request.

In connection with emergencies. We may share information where we believe it is necessary to protect the vital interests of any person, including to prevent serious harm.

To enforce our rights and protect the Services. We may share information to enforce our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and other policies, and to protect the rights, property, and safety of SheRecs, our users, and others. This includes detecting, preventing, and addressing fraud, abuse, or other harmful activity.

With affiliated entities. We may share information with our affiliates, subsidiaries, and other entities under common ownership or control for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy.

In connection with business transactions. We may share or transfer information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or other corporate transactions involving all or a portion of our business.

In aggregated or de-identified form. We may share information that has been aggregated or de-identified such that it cannot reasonably be used to identify you. For example, we may share usage statistics or trends to help describe and improve the Services.

We do not sell your personal information and do not share your information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide and operate the Services, maintain your account, comply with applicable legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. In general, we retain your information for the duration of your account’s activity or as otherwise required to provide the Services.

If your account remains inactive for an extended period, which is generally considered to be two years, we may, in our discretion, deactivate or delete the account and delete or anonymize associated personal information, subject to applicable legal, regulatory, and operational requirements.

If you choose to delete your account, your profile information, recommendations (“RecCards”), and associated account data will be removed from our active systems. Please note that deletion may take up to approximately two (2) weeks to fully process across our systems. In certain circumstances, limited information may be retained for a period of time in backup systems or as required to comply with legal, regulatory, or technical obligations. Additionally, content you have shared with other users, such as messages, may remain visible to those recipients as part of their ongoing use of the Services.

If you delete individual RecCards, those recommendations will be removed from your profile and will no longer appear in search results or within your visible RecList, subject to routine system processing and any applicable retention requirements.

If you submit identification documents in connection with an age verification appeal, we will delete such documents within a reasonable period following resolution of the appeal, and in any event no later than sixty (60) days after the applicable appeal ticket is closed.

How We Protect Your Information

We implement reasonable and appropriate administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

These measures include, among other things, the use of encryption technologies to safeguard information both in transit and at rest, as well as access controls that restrict access to personal information to authorized personnel who require such access to perform their duties. We also periodically review and update our security practices to help maintain the integrity and security of the Services.

While we take these measures seriously, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is entirely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information. You also play an important role in protecting your information. We encourage you to use strong passwords, enable available security features such as multi-factor authentication, and keep your account credentials confidential.

Your Rights and Choices

We believe that you should have meaningful control over your personal information. SheRecs provides tools and settings that allow you to access, manage, and make decisions about how your information is used and shared. Depending on your location, you may also have additional rights under applicable law.

Access, Update, and Correction

You may access, review, and update your profile information, recommendations (“RecCards”), and certain account settings at any time through your account. Where applicable, you may also request access to the personal information we hold about you.

Privacy and Visibility Controls

You may control how your information is shared within the Services through your privacy settings. For example, you can determine which recommendations are shared only with your friends and which, if any, are made more broadly visible. You may also manage who can view different elements of your profile and whether you participate in certain community features. The visibility of your content may depend on your settings, your network connections, and how the Services are designed to function.

Deletion of Your Information

You may delete individual RecCards or your entire account at any time through your account settings. Deletion of your account will result in the removal of your personal information from our active systems, subject to the data retention practices described in this Privacy Policy. In certain circumstances, limited information may be retained as required for legal, regulatory, or technical purposes.

Communication Preferences

You may manage your preferences for non-essential communications, such as product updates or promotional messages, through your account settings or by following the unsubscribe instructions included in such communications. We will continue to send you essential service-related communications, such as security alerts and account notifications, as necessary to provide the Services.

Data Access and Portability

If you would like to request a copy of your personal information, you may contact us at support@sherecs.com. We will respond to such requests in accordance with applicable law and may provide your information in a commonly used electronic format, subject to verification of your identity.

Managing Cookies and Similar Technologies

You may control how cookies and similar technologies are used on the Services through your browser settings and other available tools. Most browsers allow you to manage or disable cookies; however, doing so may affect the functionality of certain features of the Services.

In addition, certain analytics providers may offer their own opt-out mechanisms. Depending on your location, you may also be able to manage your cookie preferences through a cookie banner or similar settings available on our website. If you choose to disable or remove cookies, some features of the Services may not function properly, and certain information may be collected to remember your preferences.

International Data Transfers

SheRecs is based in the United States, and we process and store personal information on servers located in the United States. In order to provide and operate the Services, your information may be transferred to, stored in, or accessed from jurisdictions outside of your country of residence, including jurisdictions that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction.

Where such transfers occur, we take appropriate measures to ensure that your personal information remains protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law. These measures may include, where required, reliance on adequacy decisions issued by the European Commission or other relevant authorities, the use of standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, or other lawful transfer mechanisms designed to safeguard personal information.

By accessing or using the Services, or otherwise providing information to us, you acknowledge that your personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions, and that data protection laws in such jurisdictions may differ from those in your country of residence.

Where required under applicable law, you may have the right to request additional information about the safeguards we have in place for international data transfers, or to obtain a copy of relevant transfer mechanisms, by contacting us at support@sherecs.com. Notwithstanding the foregoing, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information continues to receive an appropriate level of protection, regardless of where it is processed.

Services Offered by Third Parties

We engage third-party service providers and may enable certain third-party services or integrations to support, operate, and enhance the Services. These third parties perform a variety of functions on our behalf, which may include hosting and infrastructure, data storage, analytics, communications, security, and product functionality (including features designed to improve search and user experience).

To the extent that third-party service providers process personal information on our behalf, they are authorized to access and use such information only as necessary to perform services for us and are subject to appropriate contractual, confidentiality, and data protection obligations consistent with this Privacy Policy.

In addition, the Services may allow you to access or interact with features, content, or tools provided by third parties that operate independently of SheRecs. In such cases, those third parties may collect, use, or share information in accordance with their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the data practices of these independent third parties. We encourage you to review their policies before engaging with such services. Your use of any third-party services or integrations is voluntary, and you may choose whether to access or interact with such offerings through the Services. As the Services evolve, we may engage additional third-party providers or introduce new integrations to support new features or functionality, including, for example, payment processing in connection with future paid offerings. We will update this Privacy Policy as required by applicable law to reflect any material changes to our data practices.

Information about Local Privacy Laws and State-Specific Rights

Depending on your place of residence, you may have certain rights under applicable privacy and data protection laws with respect to the personal information we collect, use, disclose, and retain. These laws may include, where applicable, the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (collectively, the “CCPA”), the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, the Delaware Personal Data Privacy Act, and, if SheRecs expands internationally or becomes subject to additional privacy regimes in the future, laws such as the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the UK General Data Protection Regulation and related UK data protection legislation, and Brazil’s Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais.

As described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy, SheRecs provides users with the ability to access, review, update, manage, and delete certain information directly through account settings and platform controls. Subject to applicable law, you may also have the right to request confirmation of whether we process your personal information, access to that information, correction of inaccuracies, deletion of personal information, portability of certain data in a usable format, restriction of certain processing, and, where processing is based on consent, withdrawal of that consent. In some jurisdictions, you may also have the right to object to, or opt out of, specific forms of processing, including targeted advertising, the sale or sharing of personal information, or certain profiling activities.

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, the sources from which that information is collected, the purposes for which it is used, the categories of third parties to whom it is disclosed, to request correction of inaccurate personal information, to request deletion of personal information subject to applicable exceptions, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under California law. SheRecs does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes.

If you are a Virginia resident, you may have rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act to confirm whether we process your personal data and access that data, correct inaccuracies, delete personal data, obtain a portable copy of certain personal data, and opt out of the processing of personal data for targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Virginia law also requires controllers to provide a process through which consumers may appeal a decision to deny a request, and generally requires responses within 45 days, subject to a limited extension when reasonably necessary.

If you are a Delaware resident, you may have rights under the Delaware Personal Data Privacy Act to confirm whether we process your personal data and access that data, correct inaccuracies, delete personal data, obtain a portable copy of certain personal data, and opt out of the processing of personal data for targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Delaware law also provides, in certain circumstances, access to information concerning categories of third parties to which personal data has been disclosed, requires a process for appealing denials of consumer requests, and generally requires responses within 45 days, subject to a limited extension when reasonably necessary.

Residents of other U.S. states or other countries may have similar rights under applicable law. If SheRecs becomes subject to additional privacy or data protection laws in the future, we may update this Privacy Policy to provide any additional disclosures, legal bases for processing, international transfer safeguards, or rights information that may be required in those jurisdictions. Nothing in this section is intended to limit any rights you may have under applicable law.

To exercise any applicable privacy rights, please contact us at support@sherecs.com. We will respond in accordance with applicable law, may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on a request, and, where required, will explain how you may appeal a decision if we decline to take action.
